October’s Downtown Oxnard Second Saturday Art Beat begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 8.
Art Beat is Downtown Oxnard’s answer to the question, “what is happening in Oxnard?” organizers reported in a media release. Come and see for yourself by walking the Art Beat every second Saturday of the month. There’s no downtown like it in VC — plenty to explore with art openings, music, dancing and dining sprinkled throughout a lovely, walkable city center.
October Art Beat will features ten different art shows, a ceramics glazing demonstration, a grand opening party and more. Ceramics takes center stage this month, with Alert on B featuring a group show from the Oxnard College Ceramics Department to draw attention to the very real possibility of the program being cut in the next round of budget talks.McMullen’s Japanese Art & Antiques will feature a presentation on the five major Japanese kilns and a demonstration of historic glazing techniques. Downtown Sol celebrates the grand opening of it showroom and workshops in the historic Lopez Building. Featuring art and artisan-made products, Downtown Sol promises to be a favorite outdoor festival, boutique, and arts center, all rolled into one.
