Disaster Loan Outreach Centers to Close March 16

CENTRAL COAST — The SBA will close its Disaster Loan Outreach Centers in Santa Barbara and Ventura on Friday, March 16, 2018. Businesses and residents can meet with SBA representatives on the days and times as indicated below. No appointment is necessary.

Until the centers close, businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets. SBA can also lend additional funds to businesses and homeowners to help with the cost of improvements to protect, prevent or minimize the same type of disaster damage from occurring in the future.

MARCH 16TH- DISASTER RECOVERY ASSISTANCE DEADLINE
The deadline to register for federal disaster assistance for those residents recovering from the wildfires and mudslides is March 16, 2018. Individuals and families who were living in Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties and suffered damage or losses from the fires and mudslides are encouraged to register for assistance. After applying for disaster assistance with FEMA, they may also be referred to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Survivors are encouraged to submit their application for a low-interest disaster loan, if contacted by the SBA to do so. Homeowners may borrow up to $200,000 from SBA to repair or replace their primary residence. Homeowners and renters may borrow up to $40,000 to repair or replace personal property. Businesses and private non-profit organizations may borrow up to $2 million for any combination of property damage or economic injury. Survivors can apply for disaster assistance by going online at DisasterAssistance.gov, or by calling 800-621-3362 or (TTY) 800-462-7585. The toll-free numbers are open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., local time, seven days a week. NOTE: The deadline to return economic injury applications is Oct. 15, 2018.

 

MARCH 19TH– UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS DEADLINE – The filing deadline to apply for Federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) benefits is March 19, 2018. Qualified individuals include workers, business owners and self-employed applicants who lost their jobs or had their work hours substantially reduced as a result of the wildfires and associated flooding, mudslides and debris flows in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Those affected are encourages to apply online at https://eapply4ui.edd.ca.gov/ by calling 1-800-300-5616 (English) 1-800-326-8937 (Spanish).
