THOUSAND OAKS — California Lutheran University will present its annual Christmas concert on Dec. 1-3, one of many performances and events on the Thousand Oaks campus this holiday season.
Holiday Events and Performances
Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Samuelson Chapel: Santa Lucia Celebration of Lights. Celebrating Santa Lucia’s Day is a tradition in Scandinavian countries that marks the traditional start of the Christmas season. This event, hosted by the Scandinavian American Cultural and Historical Foundation, will include music, teachings, and traditional food.
Dec. 10 at 2:00 p.m. in Samuelson Chapel: Christmas with Areté. Handel’s “Messiah” (Part 1: Christmas Portion) conducted by Wyant Morton. Samuelson Chapel will be filled with joyous music, including the perennially adored “Hallelujah” Chorus. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 if purchased online in advance.
Concerts and Presentations
Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Preus-Brandt Forum: Cal Lutheran’s Jazz Collective will play standard and modern jazz classics. Admission is free and donations will be accepted.
Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Samuelson Chapel: The Cal Lutheran Mariachi Ensemble will perform classics from the mariachi repertoire. Admission is free and donations will be accepted.
Dec. 8-9 at 8:00 p.m. in Preus-Brandt Forum: The Fall Dance Concert is a showcase of dances choreographed and performed by students. Admission is free and donations will be accepted.
Dec. 8 at 12:30 p.m. in Samuelson Chapel: Afternoon Organ Recital Series with Adan Fernandez is an organ recital that features works by composers from the Baroque to Modern periods. Admission is free and donations will be accepted.
Dec. 6 at 12:00 p.m. on Zoom: Introduction to the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (PLTS) Master of Arts in Spirituality and Social Change. This Zoom information session will provide insight into the curriculum, contextual learning opportunities and vocational pathways of the PLTS program.
Dec. 6 at 5:00 p.m. in Lundring Events Center: Sustainable Development Goals Competition 2023 is hosted by the School of Management’s Sports Management program. The competition is a chance for students to present ideas on how sports organizations’ brand value can drive economic and environmental sustainability. Finalists will present projects to a field of judges from such brands as the Los Angeles Kings, Rams, and Angel City Football Club. Admission is free.
