SANTA PAULA — De Colores Music Studio, directed by Xavier Montes, is having an “Open House / Posadas” celebration from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 at 217 N. 10th St., Santa Paula.
Montes, former director and founder of the De Colores Art Show held annually at the Santa Paula Art Museum, has redirected his energies towards music and youth where he offers free guitar classes.
“The site for the new endeavor is at a great location with plenty of space for musical presentations, music classes parking,” Montes said. “What better way to celebrate our new journey than during the holidays.”
There will be music performed throughout the day by Montes and his students with Mariachi Inlakech performing 4:30 p.m. The mariachi directed by long time friend Javier Gomez where recently has been practicing and taking on the road Christmas music, as well as typical music performed at Posadas.
Posadas are an important part of Mexican Christmas celebrations. The word posada means “inn” or “shelter” in Spanish, and these celebrations recreate Mary and Joseph’s search for a place to stay in Bethlehem. Posadas are held on each of the nine nights leading up to Christmas.
