The Network for a Healthy California — Gold Coast Region, will present a free training opportunity focusing the role of culture and its influence on food and nutrition and how these factors are relevant to your program.
The workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at the County of Ventura Public Works Agency, 11251-A Riverbank Drive, Ventura; and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at the Santa Maria Public Library, 421 So. McClelland St., Shepard Hall, Santa Maria.
This half- day training will help you build the skills to better manage the challenges that come with:
- Identifying and responding to culture and its influence on the values, norms and attitudes towards food and nutrition.
- Understanding how to engage populations of different cultures to gain their trust.
- Understanding the Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) standards
