CAMARILLO — An estimated 2,380 students are graduating with 1,550+ registered to participate in CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI) 2024 Commencement ceremonies planned for Saturday, May 18 at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

President Richard Yao will address the Class of 2024 during the ceremony, along with two student speakers – Associated Students Inc. (ASI) Student Government President, Daisy Navarette, and Communication major, Sean Himebaugh.

The University will recognize two outstanding county leaders this year with honorary doctorates.

During the morning commencement ceremony, Yao will present a Doctor of Humane Letters to Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) Chief Executive Officer Vanessa Bechtel, who was a first-generation student and is a staunch supporter of higher education.

During the afternoon ceremony, former CSUCI Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) counselor Angela Timmons, who has dedicated her professional life to supporting peoples’ mental health, will receive her honorary Doctor of Humane Letters. Both community leaders are being honored for their continued support of CSUCI and its students.

Those attending the morning or afternoon Commencement ceremony on May 18, which will be held rain or shine, should plan to arrive at least 90-minutes prior to the ceremony. All vehicles entering the campus must display a Commencement parking pass as provided to graduating students. Air horns, umbrellas or traditional confetti are not allowed – only biodegradable confetti is acceptable.

Each commencement ceremony is expected to last about 90-minutes and Spanish audio translation will be available. For those unable to attend, the ceremony will be live-streamed.
