CSU Channel Island’s Barajas will talk about early farmworker housing on May 11

VENTURA — CSU Channel Islands Professor Frank P. Barajas will present a talk related to his book “Curious Unions: Mexican American Workers and Resistance in Oxnard, California, 1898–1961” at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at E.P. Foster Library, 651 E. Main St., Ventura.

“A focus of the presentation will be on early farm worker housing,” Barajas stated in a media release. “I will have a few copies of my book on hand for purchase at $40.”

The book examines how the Oxnard ethnic Mexican population joined forces with other groups and organizations to meet their needs before large-scale protests and labor unions were engaged.
