VENTURA — The County of Ventura has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2019. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition that a County can receive in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“This award represents a significant achievement and demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards of financial reporting, integrity, transparency, and solid financial management. We work hard to ensure Ventura County’s CAFR enables our citizens to clearly understand the county’s financial position,” said Auditor-Controller Jeff Burgh.
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
This is the 36th consecutive year the County of Ventura has been awarded this certificate.

El Condado recibe un certificado de logro en la información financiera
VENTURA — El Condado de Ventura recibió el Certificado de Logro de Excelencia en Informes Financieros de la Asociación de Oficiales de Finanzas del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos y Canadá (GFOA) por su Informe Financiero Anual Integral (CAFR) para el año fiscal 2019. El Certificado de Logro es la forma más alta de reconocimiento que un Condado puede recibir en el área de contabilidad gubernamental e informes financieros, y este logro representa un rendimiento significativo por parte de un gobierno y su administración.
“Este premio representa un logro significativo y demuestra nuestro compromiso con los más altos estándares de información financiera, integridad, transparencia y sólida gestión financiera. Trabajamos arduamente para garantizar que el CAFR del Condado de Ventura permita a nuestros ciudadanos comprender claramente la situación financiera del Condado”, dijo el Auditor-Controlador Jeff Burgh.
La GFOA estableció el Certificado de Logro para la Excelencia en el Programa de Información Financiera en 1945 para alentar y ayudar a los gobiernos estatales y locales a ir más allá de los requisitos mínimos de los principios contables generalmente aceptados para preparar informes financieros anuales completos que evidencian el espíritu de la transparencia y divulgación completa y luego reconocer a los gobiernos individuales que logran alcanzar ese objetivo.
