The Environmental Health Division has recently received reports of a scam involving persons claiming to be health inspectors demanding payment to inspect their food facility and clear up a reported complaint.
Please note that inspectors from the Ventura County Environmental Health Division (EHD) follow the following procedures.
•EHD inspectors will never demand payment in the field. Any fees will be billed and paid through the EHD offices.
•EHD will not request that payments be made over the phone nor will EHD take payments over the phone.
•EHD inspectors will always show proper identification before beginning any inspection.
•EHD inspectors will always provide an inspection report either in writing or by email following an inspection. The report will provide a summary of the findings and direction on corrective actions needed (if any).
Please feel free to contact the EHD offices at 805-654-2813 if you believe you are approached by one of these fraudulent inspectors or if you have any questions about a recent inspection. https://vcrma.org/divisions/environmental-health
