Advance requests are still needed to interpret public comment originating in Spanish. To provide public comment in Spanish, contact the Clerk of the Board at (805) 568-2240, before 4:00 p.m. the Friday before the Board meeting.

D1) Board of Supervisors’ 2025 Commission and Committee Appointments
(Estimated Time: 15 minutes)

Summary: 

Each January, the Board considers appointments to Boards, Commissions, and Committees on which a member or members of the Board of Supervisors serve.

D2) Hearing to Consider the Historic Landmarks Advisory Commission’s
Designation of Cold Spring Canyon Bridge as a County Historic Landmark
(Estimated Time: 10 minutes)  

Summary: 

The Board will consider designating the Cold Spring Canyon Bridge on State Route 154 as a Historic Landmark. On October 14, 2024, the County’s Historic Landmarks Advisory Commission (HLAC) adopted a resolution conferring landmark status on the bridge given its craftsmanship, location, and other notable features. The HLAC Resolution will expire on January 12, 2025, unless the Board passes a resolution designating the bridge a County Historic Landmark.

D3) Santa Barbara County Behavioral Wellness Crisis Stabilization Services Unit and Sobering Center Admissions Report
(Estimated Time: 30 minutes)

 

Summary: 

The Board will hear a report regarding the Crisis Stabilization Unit and Sobering Center admission data for the 2024 calendar year. The Crisis Stabilization Unit is a 24/7 8-bed facility that admits individuals on either a voluntary or involuntary basis, while the Sobering Center provides short-term sobering services and serves as a temporary transition space for individuals leaving jail and going into the community or entering a behavioral health residential program.

D4) 2024 Annual Report and Accomplishments from Federal and

State Legislative Advocates and

2025 Legislative Platform Adoption

Summary: 

The Board will hear presentations by representatives from the County’s federal advocacy firm and the County’s State advocacy firm. The presentations will provide an overview of the past year’s accomplishments and a preview of the likely legislative issues for 2025. The Board will also adopt the County of Santa Barbara 2025 Legislative Platform.

D5) Five-Year Forecast and Budget Development Policies
(Estimated Time: 45 minutes)

 

Summary: 

The Board will receive a report on the five-year forecast of major budgetary components for the General Fund and other major funds. The Board will consider adopting the recommended budget development policies and provide staff with direction on priorities to guide budget development for the upcoming fiscal year.
