Guidance for Short-Term Rental Owners on Permits and Taxes

Short-term rental owners are responsible for permits and collecting and remitting transient occupancy taxes. The County has created a guide to help explain the process.

Major achievements include funding for resilience hubs, community projects in Cuyama Valley, and a multi-year initiative in Guadalupe and Lompoc to address air quality, extreme heat, water supply, food security, and wildfire risk.

Applications are now open for the 2025 Waterwise Garden Recognition Contest, Which Celebrates Santa Barbara County’s most beautiful and water-efficient landscapes.

The County Health Department is joining the nationwide observance with a week-long series of events aimed at both appreciating the staff’s hard work and promoting community health. This year’s theme: It Starts Here: Your Health is Our Mission

The TRUTH Act Forum focuses on access provided to federal immigration authorities. It will take place during the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the County Administration Building Board Hearing Room in Santa Barbara.

Attention All Artists!
Become Part of County History

We are looking for an artist to design the County’s Resolution Certificate. The deadline has been extended to May 1. The winner receives a $1,000 honorarium.

The beaches in Isla Vista will be closed from 8:00 a.m. Friday, April 4th through Monday, April 7th at 8:00 a.m. due to the potential for an unsanctioned festival weekend known as “Deltopia”. The closure is to prevent destruction and dangerous conditions on the beach.

Attend a workshop on Thursday, April 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to help shape incentives and assistance that support the transition to all-electric home appliances.
