Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA 26th District) — Important Voter Information for California’s Special Election on Nov. 4

Dear Neighbor,

Election Day is right around the corner! With just five days until California’s statewide special election on Tuesday, November 4, I want to make sure you have the information you need about what’s on the ballot and how you can vote.

Proposition 50 is a legislative Constitutional Amendment that authorizes temporary changes to Congressional District maps in response to Texas’ partisan redistricting. It was placed on the ballot by the California State Legislature.

This measure would:

  • Temporarily require new congressional district maps passed by the Legislature in August 2025 be used in California’s congressional elections through 2030.
  • Retain California’s independent Citizens Redistricting Commission and directs the Commission to resume enacting congressional district maps in 2031, following the 2030 Census and every ten years thereafter.
  • Establish state policy supporting use of fair, independent, and nonpartisan redistricting commissions nationwide.

If you plan to vote in the upcoming special election in California on Tuesday, November 4, click here to confirm your voter registration.

All registered voters in California should have received their vote-by-mail ballot in October. Ballots can be returned by mail, at official drop-off locations, or at your county elections office. To be counted, vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by November 12, 2025.

If you haven’t received your ballot by mail or it’s been misplaced, you can still vote in person at your nearest voting center in your county. Find locations in Ventura County here or in Los Angeles County here

Missed the online registration deadline? No problem. California offers same-day registration at county voting centers. If you register and vote in person, your ballot will be processed and counted once your registration is verified by your county elections office.

Our right to vote in free, fair, and open elections is the bedrock of American democracy. Whatever your politics may be, your voice matters.

As always, if you or someone you know needs assistance, please contact my office at (805) 379-1779. I am here to help!

Sincerely,
