Community Environmental Council — What We’re Going To Do Together

Hello,

SANTA BARBARA — At times when the world feels unsettled, the Community Environmental Council is the place where you can turn for hope, empowerment, and tangible action. That’s what we’ve been doing for over 50 years, and we’re good at it.

But building strong heart-centered, climate-resilient, environmentally-sound communities isn’t easy. It takes grit and — for real — we need your support. Here’s our plan of action:

  • Train the next generation of climate leaders through our Climate Stewards certification program, adding to the 200-strong alumni who are pushing forward thousands of solutions one neighborhood at a time.
  • Quickly transition to renewable energy and clean vehicles by leveraging California’s strength and leadership, and fighting efforts that would pull us backward.
  • Empower ranchers and farmers to implement climate-smart practices that protect their lands, save water, and repair soils.
  • Build collective power to ensure everyone is safe from the chaos exacerbated by extreme heat, wildfires, floods, historic storms, and other climate events.
  • Embrace a big-tent approach, building on CEC’s robust web of networks, alliances, and unlikely partnerships so we can reach every corner of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.
  • Gather and inspire each other through regular film screenings, lectures, and other free public events at our downtown Santa Barbara community Hub.

We can do this. Although today’s problems can seem daunting, remember: the Central Coast has long been an environmental leader in California, and California will continue to lead the nation. So now more than ever, our home is a critical lighthouse community for environmental action.

CEC has the tools, reputation, muscle, and partnerships to ensure that the Central Coast remains a beacon. Please make a contribution today.

Sincerely,

Sigrid Wright
