Community Environmental Council Celebrates 48 Years of Environmental Solutions in Santa Barbara with Green Gala

SANTA BARBARA — The Community Environmental Council (CEC) is hosting its annual “eco-chic” party of the year, the Green Gala, on Friday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. Held at The Lark, 131 Anacapa St. in Santa Barbara, the fundraiser is the only annual close-out event at this Funk Zone favorite, noted by the Los Angeles Times on its 2018 list of “13 Essential Santa Barbara Restaurants.”

For the first time, the event footprint will include The Wine Collective and Les Marchands, offering guests expanded space in which to mingle during cocktail hour. CEC is grateful to Logic Monitor and AppFolio for underwriting this exciting addition.

During cocktail hour, guests will enjoy delicious appetizers and a variety of local spirits –including a signature cocktail – while posing for fun eco-portraits courtesy of Outrageous Booths. The reception will also feature a very small and carefully curated silent auction.

Later in the evening, guests will be treated to a seated three-course dinner. Designed especially for the Green Gala by The Lark’s chefs, it will be served family style and feature organic ingredients from local farms.

A live auction will be held after dinner. Highlights include a Tropical Fiji Getaway at the Daku Resort, a beachfront holiday in New Zealand, Platinum Passes to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, a private Condor Express harbor cruise, and an exclusive escape to Boulder, CO. All travel will include carbon offsets.

Committee Chairs Leanne Schlinger Diebolt, Carolyn Fitzgerald, and Elizabeth Wagner will host the evening program, along with Community Environmental Council CEO Sigrid Wright.

Major sponsors include the Sea Forward Fund, MarBorg Industries, Suzanne and John Steed, Carolyn and Andrew Fitzgerald, Union Bank, Leanne Schlinger Diebolt and Nick Diebolt, Deanna and Jim Dehlsen, Mission Wealth Management, Elizabeth and Nate Wagner, MedBridge, Laura Capps, Monica and Tim Babich, Allen Construction, Diane Boss, Montecito Bank & Trust, Ellyn Cole, Southern California Edison, and Montecito Bank & Trust.

Longtime corporate partners Bella Vista Designs, Town & Country Event Rentals, Signature Parking, and Cox Communications are also providing generous support in 2018.

The Green Gala is an annual fundraiser for the Community Environmental Council. Since 1970, CEC has pioneered environmental solutions in areas with the biggest impact on climate change – most notably energy, transportation and food systems.

The event will take place on Friday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. at The Lark, 131 Anacapa St., Santa Barbara. Tickets to the cocktail attire event are $275 per person. The event is sold out but a few last-minute seats may become available. To inquire about the wait list, please contact Becca Summers at (805)963-0583 Ext. 116 or bsummers@cecmail.org.
