Enjoy clips from “Earth Days,” a documentary film about the history of the environmental movement in the United States followed by a panel discussion featuring Denis Hayes, organizer of the first Earth Day in 1970, Sharyn Main, former CEC staff member and key player in growing the Santa Barbara Earth Day celebration into a full-fledged festival in the early 1990s, and Sigrid Wright, CEC CEO and Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival director from 1999-2015. The discussion will focus on how the creation of Earth Day was part of a larger environmental movement that came about during a time marked by a challenging political landscape and how the lessons learned are especially relevant today.
