About the Guadalupe-Lompoc Initiative
|
|
The Community Environmental Council (CEC) is honored to partner with the County of Santa Barbara to build climate resilience in Guadalupe and Lompoc by launching the Guadalupe-Lompoc Initiative (GLI).
Senator Monique Limón presented $1.625 million to CEC and the County to buoy this effort, which will support local groups across the Central Coast region in responding, repairing, and adapting to climate-related threats. Through the GLI, local governments and organizations will lead various projects and planning efforts offering many opportunities for community involvement.
As a member of the Santa Barbara County Regional Climate Collaborative, CEC will lead grant administration and outreach for this project.

- Identifying community-supported projects to enhance wildfire resilience in Lompoc Valley
- Expanding Climate Resilience Education curriculum for youth and adults in Guadalupe
- Expanding food access and resilience in Guadalupe and Lompoc
- Engaging residents and businesses on strategies to address extreme heat and air quality issues
