Community Environmental Council (CEC) — WE WON’T STOP

Hello,

We get it. The daily barrage of bad news punctuated by heartbreaking environmental crises is enough to make anyone want to shut down.

But the Community Environmental Council’s team of 28 Board and Staff members are not tuning out. We are still very much in this — working every day to ensure that the California Central Coast is a tangible, real-world model of what healthy, equitable, climate-safe communities can look like.

We’re an action-oriented team, so we’re sharing our spring 2025 punch list:

CEC’s To-Do List

? Advocate for an oil and gas phaseout in Santa Barbara County

? Start work on an extreme heat action plan in Ventura County

? Mobilize 18 community-led projects in Cuyama, Lompoc, and Guadalupe

? Develop 10 wildfire resilience projects in high-risk neighborhoods

? Reach 550+ drivers with info about electric vehicle incentives

? Host the annual Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival on April 26-27

? Train the next cohort of climate activists

Your To-Do List

? Gather with others*

? Don’t give up hope

? Support CEC’s work

*Spend time with hopeful humans at one of CEC’s upcoming events.

Protecting the environment is a full-time job, and we have no intention of stopping. However, the unprecedented disruption of CEC’s federal grants cost us time and money and made our job harder. Your contribution before May 31 will be matched by a group of CEC’s past board members and enable us to continue advancing our bold work plan.

We aren’t stopping – and neither should you.
