CAMARILLO — Finding common ground with those who disagree with you and your company can be a challenging task. But, as communications expert Dave Barthmuss, former group manager, communications for General Motors’ West Coast Region explains it, through transparency and understanding, businesses can turn even the most stubborn detractors into advocates. He will discuss and strategize some of his communication best practices as he presents “GM’s Biggest PR Challenges”at the June 22 meeting of the PRSA California Gold Coast Chapter.
The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. with networking, followed by the program presentation from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The event will be held at Ventura County Community Foundation, 4001 Mission Oaks Blvd, Camarillo.
Barthmuss was at GM until early 2016, and now serves as an independent consultant and senior counsel for clients and agencies. While at GM, Barthmuss was responsible for a variety of public relations assignments including engaging GM and its brands with key stakeholder groups to help communicate the company’s environmental, technology and policy initiatives. He also was the official spokesperson for GM throughout the region. His work included the landmark launch of the extended-range electric Chevrolet Volt.
