About Coastal Keepers — Coastal Keepers is the only Latinx grassroots organization in Ventura County, bridging the gap between policymakers & the communities of South Oxnard and Port Hueneme by bringing educated reports & reflections on social and environmental injustices occurring in these coastal communities. Since December 31, 2020, Coastal Keepers have hosted more than 50 coastal community cleanups and collected more than 5.5 tons of trash, proportionating to the weight of two baby blue whales. Through their five foundational pillars: comunidad (community), creatividad (creativity), conciencia (awareness), cultura (culture) y (and) corazon (heart), Coastal Keepers aims to restore and improve accessibility to Ormond Beach/Lagoon while empowering the next generation of Latinx environmental leaders.
