CLU to present ‘Un cuento chino (Chinese Take-away)’ on Oct. 9

THOUSAND OAKS — California Lutheran University will present “Un cuento chino (Chinese Take-away)” as part of its International Film Festival/Reel Justice Film Series at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Muvico Thousand Oaks 14, 166 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

“Chinese Take-away” (2011) is an Argentine comedy that deals with cultural differences through two individuals: a methodical Buenos Aires hardware store owner and a Chinese immigrant searching for his uncle. Written and directed by Sebastián Borensztein, the film is about overcoming prejudice and understanding human nature even when verbal communication seems impossible. It was the highest grossing non-U.S. film in Argentina in 2011.

The International Film Festival is organized by the Department of Languages and Cultures with the support of the CLU Community Leaders Association and the Center for Equality and Justice.

No RSVP required. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Seats available until filled. Visit http://www.callutheran.edu/calendar/event/3069 for more information.
