CESI Conference 2024
Selected Findings of the Latest Study

Dr. Jamshid Damooei
Professor of Economics & Executive Director, CESI

Presenter of the conference and author of the study

“This brief report presents a select number of findings from the study of the demographic profile and economic impact of undocumented immigrants in California. This study aims to show that the value we place on immigrants as human beings should not be based on their legal status. It also demonstrates that their economic contribution has no relation to their legal status. It is unfortunate that a significant percentage of Americans believe unfounded information about the life and economic contribution of undocumented immigrants. The purpose of this study is to separate the myths from the realities. It puts a human face on the struggle of many people and their families in California. It provides empirical evidence to form our public policies and adhere to principles of humanity in their formation, which has long been overdue.”
