VENTURA COUNTY — Clinicas del Camino Real Inc. will host events in honor of National Health Center Week (NHCW), the organization reported in a media release.
These events are part of National Campaign which celebrates the record of success demonstrated by America’s Health Centers.
Clinicas invites the Ventura Community to join them for a Health Fair at Church of the Living Christ, 171 Royal Avenue Simi Valley, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16.
Clinicas will offer free health screenings including cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, vision and more. The remainder of the week, Aug. 10 through 15, the Ventura Community can visit any of Clinicas’ Health Centers throughout the County and participate in many of the FREE activities being offered.
Clinicas hopes to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Health Centers as local solutions for affordable and accessible health care.
The theme of this year’s NHCW is “America’s Health Centers, Local Engines for Healthier Communities ” to underscore how Community Health Centers provide access to affordable, high quality, cost effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people throughout the United States. One of the bright spots in America’s health care system, community clinics and health centers (CCHCs) have been in existence for over 45 years and have compiled a significant record of success by:
- Reducing income and ethnic health disparities nationwide, even in the poorest and most challenged communities
- Producing $24 billion in annual health system savings
- Reducing unnecessary hospitalizations and unnecessary visits to the ER
- Generating a system of preventive medicine that patients use regularly to stay healthy, thus saving lives.
In California, CCHCs serve more than 5 million people each year, and are increasingly becoming the trusted provider of choice for many families, whether they are insured or not. Evidence shows patients choose CCHCs because they are convenient, affordable, and offer a range of services from a team of caring professionals. Studies also show the quality of care at a health center is as good, or better than, private practices.
“Every day in our waiting rooms I witness the value of having a patient-centered health care home,” Roberto S. Juarez, CEO, stated in the release. “When people have a place to go for regular care, they use it and stay healthier. We provide a range of services onsite – primary care services, pharmacy, dentistry, mental health, optometry, and health education and prevention services. Our patients not only get the care they need under one roof, but they are treated as individuals, with dignity and respect. This is what health care should be, and what we celebrate during National Health Center Week.”
