What Will I Learn?
Learn everything you need to know to become a fierce, effective, environmental justice advocate.
The 14 weeks combines different elements including instruction from the staff and advocates at Climate First: Replacing Oil and Gas (CFROG) and the CSUCI environmental science faculty. In just one night a week Zoom and two in-person Saturday meetings, you will be able to articulate the local impacts of climate change, use powerful storytelling techniques to communicate environmental justice messages, work in a group that shares your interest in environmental justice, and develop concrete, personal advocacy goals that align with your individual interest.
In addition, you will work closely with a mentor to identify community leadership roles you could pursue, create a roadmap of change in your own community, and develop a plan (in a supportive group setting) to influence climate policy at the local level.
Graduates of EVA will be poised to pursue careers in political science, climate policy, and environmental science. And through participation in the program, you will become part of a life-long network of environmental advocates and scientists who will have your back as you pursue your own career goals.
