Rodney Fernandez, executive director of Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation in Ventura, was honored by the Stress, Health and Longevity group during its recent weekly meeting.
Fernandez, who was recognized for his years of community service in leading the affordable housing organization, is retiring from his position after 30 years of service as executive director of CEDC.
Nancy Conk has been selected to assume the role of chief executive officer of the organization.
“Rodney’s dedication will be greatly missed,” Dave Rodriguez, president of the Board of Directors of CEDC, stated in a recent media release by CEDC. “Locally, Rodney was on the front lines of assisting in the creation of the first self?help farmworker housing in Ventura County more than 30 years ago. Rodney is a unique, leader, innovator, collaborator and advocate who was able to both see the big picture and work at the grassroots level. He is an extraordinary human being whose legacy at CEDC is alive and well, and Ms. Conk is uniquely qualified and ready to lead CEDC through its next challenges and opportunities.”
The Stress, Health and Longevity group will restart on Jan. 11, 2012 with a presentation honoring Congressional Gold Medal recipient Ted Wakai of Oxnard.
The presentation will be held at 5:30 p.m. at 702 County Square Drive, Ventura.
