Saturdays, September 22, October 6, 27 10:30 am-12noon ages 7-11
These art exploration classes help kids explore the tools artists use to build works of art from line to texture and everything in between. In each session, students are introduced to one or two building blocks and a different technique inspired by the current exhibits on display. Students will then apply what they learn to create their own art. All projects for this series of Building Blocks of Art will tie in with the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration.
Sept 22 – “Festive Skulls” – Students will learn how to illustrate a human skull on cardboard. Then they will use paints and Model Magic to add color and texture to arrive at a raised illustration of the festive skull frequently associated with Day of the Dead. An overview of the holiday and color theory will be included.
Join designer Chance Noble, for a one day, hands on workshop in screen printing applications, preparations and press setup. The workshop is a crash course overview that is appropriate for complete beginners to intermediate printers. Participants will have the opportunity to print prepared art on tote bags; the selections available will include Día de los Muertos designs.
