AGOURA — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley is busy preparing for the upcoming ‘Stand up for Kids Gala Dinner & Auction’ set for Saturday, October 20 at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village.
Volunteers are needed to help put the event on and be part of the community effort to support local youth. Volunteer tasks consist of assembling baskets for the silent auction, wrapping the items, making deliveries, registration help and more. A listing of the specific duties, times and dates can be found at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090e4cafa823a2fb6-16th.
“We count on our volunteers for this annual event and appreciate the support,” stated Jennie Parkinson, Director of Donor Relations. “It’s a fun way for individuals to get involved in the community while meeting new people and making friends,” she added.
The theme for this year’s Gala center’s around the 1920’s and will include many fun elements. Youth will perform “Sing Sing Sing” in a jazz number to show their gratitude for those who support the Boys & Girls Clubs and many new items/packages will be offered during the silent auction. For example, guests can vie for such items as a SD Padres Experience, including a one-hour pitching session with former MLB World Series Pitcher, Scott Erickson, premier seats at a SD Padres Game and a two-night stay at Hotel Del Coronado, or bid on Lakers packages, featuring LeBron James. Many other items and trips will also be up for grabs.
The annual Gala Dinner & Auction is the main fundraising event for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley and helps support over 4,000 children in quality before and after school programs, sport leagues and summer camp.
