SANTA BARBARA — Celebrate lively music, dance and culture with three free performances of L.A.’s premier folk ballet company, Grandeza Mexicana. The series is part of ¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bárbara! (Viva), a program organized by UCSB Arts & Lectures dedicated to bringing people together to share the rich cultural heritage of Latin America.

THREE FREE PUBLIC PERFORMANCES

Grandeza Mexicana is L.A.’s premier folk ballet company, preserving the traditions and customs of Mexico’s historic past and promising present. A nonprofit performing arts organization founded by Jose Vences in September 2003, the company was formed to advance the field of Mexican folk ballet and to enhance the public’s appreciation for the diversity and depth of Mexican culture. Backed by careful research, Grandeza Mexicana’s work is committed to preserving the traditions and customs of Mexico.

Grandeza Mexicana has achieved recognition for its strength, artistic flair, use of elaborate costuming and commitment to quality. The company has garnered many awards including the Lester Horton Award for costuming. They have performed at The Music Center for the L.A. County Holiday Celebration, the Terrace Theater, the Center for the Arts in Sacramento, the Marjorie Luke Theatre in Santa Barbara, the Ford Theater, the Alex Theatre, the Skirball Cultural Center, Scottsdale Center For The Performing Arts and alongside acclaimed artists such as the world-famous Jose Feliciano, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Mariachi Sol De Mexico, Luis Miguel, Shaila Durcal and Lila Downs.

La serie es parte de ¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bárbara! (Viva), un programa organizado por UCSB Arts & Lectures dedicado a unir a las personas para compartir la rica herencia cultural de América Latina.

TRES PRESENTACIONES GRATUITAS

Grandeza Mexicana, una compañía de ballet folklórico de Los Ángeles, conserva las tradiciones y costumbres históricas así como también del presente prometedor de México. La organización benéfica de artes escénicas fue fundada por José Vences en septiembre de 2003. La compañía se formó para avanzar el campo del ballet folklórico mexicano y aumentar la apreciación del público por la diversidad y profundidad de la cultura mexicana. Grandeza Mexicana está comprometida a la preservación de las tradiciones y costumbres de México.

Grandeza Mexicana ha logrado reconocimiento por su fuerza, estilo artístico, uso de vestuario elaborado y su compromiso a la calidad. La compañía ha obtenido muchos premios, incluyendo el premio Lester Horton por vestuario. Se presentaron en The Music Center como parte de L.A.
