New Overnight Parking Ordinance in effect January 1st

Starting January, a new Ventura County ordinance will take effect that prohibits overnight parking and camping on certain designated County roads next to farmland in unincorporated areas.

To help raise awareness, signs will begin going up on January 5, 2026, only in locations where restrictions apply.

This ordinance was unanimously approved by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors to protect local agriculture, the environment, and public safety, while also ensuring individuals are connected to available housing and support services.

  • Does not apply to residential neighborhoods, the coastline, or rural mountain areas.
  • Please note: Individuals who do not comply after receiving notice may face fines or other legal penalties.

The Ventura County Public Works Agency’s Roads & Transportation Department is exploring a new Adopt-a-Cabinet Program, an initiative that would transform traffic utility cabinets into vibrant public artworks that celebrate local arts and culture, deter graffiti, and beautify our unincorporated communities.
