County of Ventura Agricultural Commissioner Announces End of Queensland Fruit Fly Quarantine |
We have great news from our Agricultural Commissioner Korinne Bell! Thanks to your help, we have successfully lifted the quarantine on the Queensland fruit fly. This is a huge win for our agricultural resources!
However, we must remain vigilant. The quarantine for Huanglongbing (HLB), caused by the Asian citrus psyllid, is still in effect. Please continue to look for symptoms in your citrus trees, such as greenish discoloration, odd-shaped fruit, or a bitter taste. If you suspect something is wrong, contact the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) for assistance at 800-491-1899.
We extend our deepest gratitude to YOU our residents in Thousand Oaks, our dedicated growers, our farmers, and our agricultural workers. Your unwavering support and hard work have been invaluable in protecting Ventura County’s agricultural heritage. Thank you for standing with us! |

National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day
|
On Wednesday, August 21st, we observed National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.
The annual observance is a moment to remember those lives tragically lost to illicit fentanyl poisoning. The devastation wrought by this potent drug continues to impact families and communities across the United States.
Let us take this opportunity to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl, educate ourselves and others on prevention measures, and support those who have been affected. Together, we can work towards a future where such tragedies are lessened, and lives are saved.
