Friend,In just a few weeks, we’ll be sharing our 2024-25 Annual Impact Report!

Curated from inspiring stories and milestones across the Central Coast, this year’s report showcases an extraordinary tapestry of achievements. From groundbreaking ceremonies to grand openings, new class intakes to proud graduations, and countless “welcome homes” for our newest neighbors – each moment reflects what’s possible when we work together toward a shared vision.

Despite a year marked by uncertainty, we experienced strong financial performance and meaningful growth, driven by careful planning and deep collaboration. Together with supporters like you, we’ve built the foundation for a resilient and vibrant future.

Capturing a full year in just a few pages is no small task, yet this edition of our Annual Impact Report tells a story we can all take pride in. Every milestone we celebrate is a testament to the power of community.

From Crisis to Stability
When a single mother of two young children faced reduced work hours and mounting financial hardship, she feared losing both her home and her sense of hope. With guidance from her PSHH social worker, she developed a plan to stabilize her family, securing rental assistance, food support, and help with budgeting. These resources allowed her to regain her footing, transition smoothly into a new full-time job, and achieve lasting housing and food security!

Building Your Housing Vocabulary
Affordable housing terminology can often be complex and confusing, filled with acronyms and technical language. However, by learning and understanding these terms, you can become a stronger, more informed advocate for housing in your community.

This month, we’re sharing about the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This is a California law that requires public agencies to identify and disclose the potential environmental impacts of their projects, and to avoid or mitigate those impacts if feasible. In essence, it ensures that public agencies consider the environmental consequences of their decisions before approving projects.

Preventing Summer Slide

Summer slide refers to the learning loss that can occur over summer break, particularly in reading, where elementary students may lose up to two months of progress. Without regular reading practice, early literacy skills can decline, making it harder for students to catch up in the fall.

Throughout the summer, in response to this need, PSHH educators provided new curriculum and structured programming to support reading comprehension. The results were encouraging! Nearly twice as many students are testing at or above grade level compared to last year. These gains highlight the impact of intentional summer support and underscore the importance of keeping students engaged in reading year-round!
