November 2025

We invite you to read our 2024-25 Annual Impact Report. Inside, you’ll find inspiring stories, accomplishments, and a detailed look at how your support has helped advance our mission over the past year!

Friend,In today’s world, everything seems to happen at lightning speed. Products arrive on our doorsteps almost before we’ve ordered them, meals appear and disappear in the blink of an eye, and after the time change, days feel compressed by the shifting clock and the early setting sun.

Here in my neighborhood, autumn reminds me that not everything must be rushed. The leaves are slowly turning to chocolate, scarlet, and gold, our gardens are preparing for winter, and the evening skies are hosting seasonal migrations. These brief moments, which urge pause, are precious.

At People’s, we’ve just completed our company-wide training on Trauma-Informed Practices. Together, we learned the value of listening deeply, of recognizing that silence can mean reflection, that nonresponse can mean thoughtfulness, and that slowing down our replies can mean truly sharing space with one another.

This season of gratitude invites us to honor those pauses: the silences, the spaces, the gaps. Just as this season unfolds gently, so too can our conversations, our connections, and our care for one another.

This Thanksgiving I am grateful for the joys and tasks which fill my days, but also for the moments of stillness that give them meaning.

A Veteran’s Journey to Stability and Connection
Jim is a U.S. Air Force veteran who honorably served our country. When a devastating fire burned his home and community to the ground, he spent four years couch surfing and feeling untethered. With help from PSHH, he was connected to Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing and placed on our waiting list and found a place to call home at Templeton Place II.
“Moving in was like a gift. It’s like God sent you a gift,” Jim shared. Today, Jim is relaxed and proud to host guests in his home. He’s active in his community, and passionate about supporting fellow veterans.

But the support People’s provides doesn’t end with a key to a door! Thanks to our Housing Service Fund, Jim and other veterans receive the support they need when an urgent situation arises.

As we honor ‘National Veterans and Military Families Month’, we invite you to support our Housing Service Fund. Your gift helps veterans like Jim find safety, support, and a place to call home.

Building Your Housing Vocabulary
Affordable housing terminology can often be complex, filled with acronyms and technical language. However, by learning and understanding these terms, you can become a stronger, more informed advocate for housing in your community!

This month, we’re highlighting the Fair Housing Act (FHA). This federal law protects people from discrimination in housing. Enacted in 1968, and expanded over time, the FHA makes it illegal to deny housing, rentals, or financing based on race, color, religion, sex, familial status, national origin, or disability. These protections help ensure that everyone has a fair and equal opportunity to find a place to call home.

We invite you to take a virtual tour of Sierra Madre Cottages , a beautiful property in Santa Maria that offers seniors a safe, supportive place to call home.
