Building Your Housing Vocabulary
Affordable housing terminology can often be complex, filled with acronyms and technical language. However, by learning and understanding these terms, you can become a stronger, more informed advocate for housing in your community!
This month, we’re highlighting the Fair Housing Act (FHA). This federal law protects people from discrimination in housing. Enacted in 1968, and expanded over time, the FHA makes it illegal to deny housing, rentals, or financing based on race, color, religion, sex, familial status, national origin, or disability. These protections help ensure that everyone has a fair and equal opportunity to find a place to call home. |
