As part of storm preparations, Ventura Beach RV Park will be under an Evacuation Order beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, due to forecasted significant rises in the Ventura River and the potential for flooding. Residents and visitors are urged to prepare now and be ready to leave quickly if conditions worsen.
The Ventura Fire Department will implement emergency upstaffing beginning Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. through Christmas morning at 8:00 a.m., with the possibility of extending as conditions warrant. Additionally, the Ventura Pier will close at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, and will remain closed pending a safety inspection scheduled for Saturday, December 27. Potential storm impacts include roadway flooding, heavy flows in creeks and rivers, an increased risk of downed trees due to saturated soils, and large, hazardous surf with strong rip currents.
Sand and sandbags are available to Ventura residents at the City’s Maintenance Yard, located at 336 Sanjon Road. Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Materials are located in the parking lot for easy pickup and are available from dawn to dusk.
Community members are urged to remain weather-aware, avoid flooded roadways, and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.
