Bilingual report: Exhibit of traditional Mexican costumes set for Aug. 26

OXNARD — An exhibit of traditional Mexican costumes worn by the participants of the “Senorita Fiestas Patrias” cultural pageant will be presented at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26 at Pacifica High School, 600 E. Gonzalez Road, Oxnard. There is a charge of $5 for event. Children free.

The event is presented by the Comité Cultural Mexicano (Mexican Cultural Committee) and La “M” 103.7 FM Radio Station as part of the 15th Annual “Fiestas Patrias” (Mexican Independence Day Celebration).

Future events include:

• Saturday, Sept. 1 – Dinner-Dance to elect and crown the queen of the “Fiestas Patrias” 2012-2013, at the Marriott Ventura Beach Hotel 2055 E. Harbor Blvd. Ventura, CA. from 5:30 p.m. to 12 midnight.  There is an entrance cost of $60.00 per person.
• Saturday, Sept. 15^th  — “Grito de Independencia” (The Cry for Independence) at Plaza Park starting at 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with music and traditional Mexican food. This event is free of charge.
• Sunday, Sept. 16^th — At 11 a.m., a Parade with beautifully decorated floats and high school marching band along “C” Street, starting from 9^th. Street through 2^nd. Street. After the parade enjoy a music festival at Plaza Park from noon to 9 p.m. These events are free of charge.

All these festivities have been created to commemorate the 202 Anniversary of the Mexican Independence over the Spanish rule. On the eve of September 15^th, 1810 Father “Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla” made the famous cry for Independence that led to the struggle of thousands of Mexicans to fight and liberate Mexico from the Spaniards.

OXNARD — El Comité Cultural Mexicano  y la “M” 103.7 FM tienen el gusto de presentar el Quinceavo Evento Anual de Fiestas Patrias   (Celebración  de la Independencia de México)  Esta serie de coloridos eventos históricos y culturales se llevaran a cabo del 26 de agosto  al  16, de septiembre del 2012.

A continuación encontrará una lista de eventos a realizarse  en Oxnard, CA

• Domingo, 26 de Agosto – Presentación de Trajes Típicos Mexicanos, lucidos por las participantes del Certamen Señorita Fiestas Patrias a las 4:30 pm., en la Preparatoria Pacifica, 600 E. González Road, Oxnard, CA. El costo de este evento es de $5.00 por persona. Los niños entran gratis.
• Sábado, 1 de Septiembre – Cena- Baile para elegir y coronar a la Reina de las Fiestas Patrias 2012-2013, en el Marriott Ventura Beach Hotel 2055 E. Harbor Blvd. Ventura, CA., donación $60.00 por persona.
• Sábado, 15 de Septiembre – “Grito de Independencia” en la Placita, Calle “C” y 5ª de las 11:00 pm. a 9:00 P.m. con música y comida tradicional mexicana. El evento es gratuito.
• Domingo, 16 de septiembre  – A las 11 am., Desfile con elegantes carros alegóricos y música, sobre la calle “C” comenzando en la calle 9ª y terminando en  la Calle 2ª. Después del desfile disfrute del Festival  de Música de la 12:00 pm. a las 9:00 pm. Ambos  eventos son gratuitos.

Esta serié de festividades son para conmemorar el Aniversario 202 de la Independencia de México de España. (La noche del 15 de septiembre de 1810, el Padre Don Miguel Hidalgo Y Costilla dio el  famoso Grito de Independencia que dio inicio a la  lucha de miles de mexicanos para liberar a México del gobierno de España.)
