We continue to share this update and information in an effort to keep you informed of important resources available as we face the ongoing Red Flag Conditions for our area.

On a positive note, we are pleased to report that the forward progress on the Auto Fire, which occurred on Monday evening, has been stopped and it is 50% contained. We’re grateful for the tireless efforts of firefighters and emergency personnel across our County and cities.

As we continue navigating the challenges of extreme weather together, we encourage you to stay informed by remaining connected to Ventura County’s official communication channels. Updates on power restoration, fire containment, and other critical information are shared regularly via vcemergency.com. Staying informed ensures that you and your loved ones are prepared and aware of the latest developments.

When: Wednesday, January 15 | 2 PM – 4 PM

Fresh produce and shelf-stable items will be available to attendees.

As Ventura County continues to be under a RED FLAG WARNINGthrough Wednesday, January 15th, it’s important to recognize the ways to prevent fires from starting. The combination of dry weather, dry grass, brush, and strong winds creates conditions where a wildfire could become extremely difficult to contain.

To protect our community and help prevent the outbreak of wildfires, please follow these safety guidelines and refrain from the following activities:

• No Outdoor Wood-Burning Fires

• Avoid Mowing or Trimming Dry Grass During Windy Conditions to Prevent Sparks

• Never Park or Pull Your Vehicle Over in Dry Grass

• Extinguish and Dispose of Cigarettes Appropriately

• Report Suspicious Activities: Be vigilant and report to law enforcement any suspicious activities that could lead to arson. Remember, if you see something, say something!

By following these guidelines, you can significantly reduce the risk of fire hazards during high wind conditions. Your safety and the well-being of our community depend on these simple yet effective actions.

As we have seen in recent weeks, disasters – both natural and man-made – can occur in any moment. It’s important to think about ways to get prepared and consider how your could also help your friends and family have a plan and supplies.

Here is some advice from the Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Service on how to support your community with preparedness:

• Strike up a conversation about emergency preparedness. It is a great way to learn how you can help others and vice versa.

• Make it part of your emergency plan to check on neighbors, friends and co-workers who may need a trusted evacuation buddy.

• People living with access and functional needs may need additional support with preparing for emergencies. Build a network to help fill gaps in your emergency preparedness and response needs.

• While you’re at it…Throw some extra supplies in your kit or go-bag to save the day for someone in need during an emergency.

Want to learn more? Ready Ventura County has recommendations on items for your “go bag” and tips on ways to help you and your neighbors be prepared in light of critical weather events.

It’s important that residents across Ventura County are registered for VC Alert in order to receive timely emergency notifications during an incident.

These messages come from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services and may include, but are not limited to evacuation warnings or orders, severe weather advisories, community policing incidents, searches for missing at-risk individuals and public health alerts.

VC Alerts can only be sent to locations within Ventura County and you’ll only be notified if the address you register is in an area that is directly affected by an incident. To receive alerts by phone, text, email, fax, TTY/TDD device, or numeric page for your home, work or loved one’s location, register by one of the methods below:
