SANTA MARIA — A generous donation is helping Allan Hancock College strengthen hands-on training for the next generation of firefighters.
The Allan Hancock College Foundation received a $25,000 donation from Cloverlane Foundation to support the purchase of a state-of-the-art “Jaws of Life” extrication system for use in the college’s fire academy, along with other essential equipment for fire academy students.
“This investment by the Cloverlane Foundation will make a real difference in how we prepare students for the field,” said Fire Academy Coordinator Leonard Champion. “Access to professional-grade equipment like this elevates the quality of our program and gives our students a meaningful advantage when they enter the workforce.”
Hancock’s Fire Academy prepares students for careers in fire technology and emergency services, offering coursework aligned with California state certification requirements. Graduates go on to serve in fire departments and emergency response agencies throughout the Central Coast and beyond.
“We are deeply grateful to the Cloverlane Foundation for this investment in our students and in the safety of our communities,” said Jon Hooten, Ph.D., executive director of the Allan Hancock College Foundation. “Gifts like this allow us to keep our programs responsive to the real demands of the profession.”
