SANTA PAULA — The City of Santa Paula marked an important milestone on March 3 with a groundbreaking ceremony for the Santa Paula Creek Bridge, a project that will improve access, connectivity, and safety while establishing a connection over the Santa Paula Creek.
Mayor Carlos Juarez, Vice Mayor Jenny Crosswhite, Councilmember Pedro Chavez, City Manager Dan Singer, and Deputy City Manager Aminah Mears were in attendance to celebrate the start of construction, along with City of Santa Paula department directors, staff members, project partners, and community members.
The Santa Paula Creek Bridge will provide improved access to the Harvest at Limoneira Community of homes while strengthening connections between new and existing neighborhoods and the broader Santa Paula community. By linking these areas, the bridge will help preserve access to the historic downtown and ensure it remains connected and accessible for generations to come. The project also represents an important step forward in the continued buildout of the Harvest at Limoneira community.
The Harvest at Limoneira development is approved for up to 2,050 residential dwelling units and up to 10,000 square feet of commercial space. More than 700 homes in the first phase of development have already been completed and sold, with more than 800 additional homes planned for future phases as the community continues to grow.
City Manager Dan Singer highlighted the broader impact the project will have on the surrounding area. “This bridge represents more than a physical connection,” said Singer. “It’s also a symbolic one. It helps connect the communities at Harvest with the rest of Santa Paula, strengthening the relationships that make our city such a vibrant and welcoming place.”
City leaders also recognized the collaborative efforts that made the project possible, thanking city staff, engineers, community partners, and residents who contributed to the planning and development of the bridge.
The Santa Paula Creek Bridge is projected to be completed by spring 2027. Once finished, the bridge will serve as the eastern gateway from downtown Santa Paula to the Santa Paula Creek Sports Park and surrounding area, further enhancing access and connectivity within the community.
