Hancock students explored the college’s programs and student clubs at a “Bulldog Bow-WOW” event on Feb. 5. ??

SANTA MARIA — Allan Hancock College invited students taking spring classes to a fun and informative Bulldog Bow-WOW welcome event on Feb. 5 at the college’s Santa Maria campus.
Students who attended the event had the opportunity to meet faculty and staff, learn about support services such as counseling and financial aid, and explore various academic and career pathways. Attendees also enjoyed free food, music, and giveaways while engaging with the college’s many student clubs and organizations.
“This is a great way to get out and let students know about what our club does and what we are about,” said Emily Limon, a Hancock student and member of the college’s Fashion and Design Club. “For new students, joining a club can break the ice and also open them up to trying new things.”
For MESA/STEM Center Tutoring Coordinator Bryce Miyahara, the event was also an opportunity to tell students about important resources they might not know about.
“I’ve already run into some students who had STEM majors but didn’t know about the services we provide at the center,” he said. “Bulldog Bow-WOW is one of many ways we can get the word out.”
Bulldog Bow-WOW is one of several Week of Welcome (WOW) events at Hancock this February. The college will also host a Baseball & BBQ pregame celebration on Feb. 11 at 12:30 p.m. at the baseball/softball complex on the Santa Maria campus. The event will include food, fun activities and a student vs. staff softball game. Students can stay and watch Hancock’s baseball team take on College of the Sequoias.
To close out the WOW festivities, Hancock will host a second Bulldog Bow-WOW at the Lompoc Valley Center on Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., providing another opportunity for LVC students to connect with Hancock’s vibrant campus community.

ESTUDIANTES DE HANCOCK ASISTEN AL EVENTO “BULLDOG BOW-WOW”
SANTA MARIA – – El 5 de febrero, Allan Hancock College invitó a los estudiantes inscritos en clases de primavera a un evento de bienvenida, Bulldog Bow-WOW, en el campus de Santa María.
Los estudiantes que asistieron tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer a miembros de la facultad y personal de Hancock, recibir información sobre los servicios de apoyo como consejería y ayuda financiera, y descubrir una variedad de caminos académicos y profesionales. Los asistentes también disfrutaron de comida, música y varios premios mientras interactuaban con los clubes estudiantiles y organizaciones del colegio.
“Esta es una manera increíble de informar a nuestros estudiantes sobre lo que hace nuestro club y lo que representamos,” dijo Emily Limon, estudiante de Hancock y miembro del club de moda y diseño (Fashion and Design Club). “Para los estudiantes nuevos, ser miembro de un club puede ayudarles a romper el hielo y animarlos a probar cosas nuevas.”
Para el coordinador del Centro MESA/STEM Bryce Miyahara, el evento fue una oportunidad para informar a los estudiantes sobre recursos importantes que quizás no conocían.
“Hablé con varios estudiantes con un interés en CTIM (STEM) que no sabían sobre los servicios que ofrecemos en el Centro MESA/STEM,” dijo Miyahara, “Bulldog Bow-WOW es el evento que nos permite informar a los estudiantes sobre esos servicios.”
Bulldog Bow-WOW es uno de los eventos de la Semana de Bienvenida (WOW) de Hancock. El 11 de febrero a las 12:30 p.m., AHC organizará su celebración de Béisbol y Carne Asada (Baseball & BBQ pregame celebration) en el campo de béisbol y sóftbol en el campus de Santa María. El evento contará con comida, diversión y un partido entre estudiantes y personal (student vs. staff softball game). Después, el equipo de beisbol de Hancock jugará contra College of the Sequoias.
El 12 de febrero, Hancock organizará Bulldog Bow-WOW en el Lompoc Valley Center de 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., lo cual brindará otra oportunidad para que los estudiantes de Lompoc se conecten con la comunidad vibrante de AHC.
