SANTA MARIA — Allan Hancock College is inviting the public to celebrate art, music and film with several events featuring the college’s talented students and faculty this May.
These events are open to the community on the following dates, times, and locations:
Folklórico Invitational Concert- May 1-3
Hancock will host the 2025 Folklórico Invitational concert and dance performance on May 1-3 at 7 p.m. in Boyd Concert Hall (bldg. F) on the Santa Maria campus. Performers include Hancock students, as well as talented dancers from Righetti, Pioneer Valley and Santa Maria high schools, as well as members of the community. Student Film Festival- May 2
Hancock will host a 90-minute-long showcase of the best documentaries and short films made by students in the college’s film and video production program. The film festival will take place on May 2 at 7 p.m. in the screening room of Hancock’s Fine Arts Complex (bldg. F, Room 257). This event is recommended for ages 17 and older. Season Concert – The Sacred & The Profane- May 3
Hancock’s choir will perform alongside the Santa Maria Philharmonic Orchestra and Maestro Michael Nowak on May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Santa Maria. The performance, titled “The Scared and the Profane” explores the range of human expression though pieces by Early 20th Century composer Darius Milhaud and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Jazz & Symphonic Band Concerts- May 16 & May 19
The college’s jazz band will host a concert on May 16 from 7:30-9 p.m. The ensemble of student and community musicians will perform selections featuring swing, ballad, rock and Latin styles with many soloists featured.?On May 19, Hancock’s symphonic band will host a concert from 7:30-9 p.m. featuring a variety of musical selections from traditional band works to contemporary music and more.

Fine Arts Student Show
The work of students in Hancock’s fine arts program is on display at the Ann Foxworthy Gallery (bldg. L) on the Santa Maria campus through May 13. This year’s fine arts student show features 80 works from traditional media to digital, animation, game design and more. This exhibit is free and open to the public. El evento durará 90 minutos y presentará los mejores cortos y documentales hechos por estudiantes. Debido a su contenido, esta función se recomienda para mayores de 17 años. El concierto se llevará a cabo a las 7:30 p.m. en Boyd Concert Hall (edificio F) en el campus de Santa María. El 19 de mayo, la banda sinfónica de Hancock organizará su concierto donde destacará composiciones clásicas hasta piezas contemporáneas en el mismísimo lugar y horario. Ambos conciertos cuestan $10. Exposición de Arte Estudiantil
La galería Ann Foxworthy (edificio L) presenta su Exposición de Arte Estudiantil de trabajos realizados por estudiantes hasta el 13 de mayo. La exposición presenta 80 obras realizadas con técnicas tradicionales hasta medios digitales, animación, diseño de videojuegos y más. La exposición es gratis y abierto al público.
