VENTURA COUNTY — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County (BBSVC) is looking forward to celebrating National Mentoring Month for January 2016. The National Mentoring Month campaign will acknowledge the ‘Bigs’- adult mentors – and the positive impact they make in the lives of their ‘Littles’ – at-risk youth served in the BBSVC programs.
For the entire month, ‘Littles’ will be taking over BBSVC. There will be daily social media posts, e-blasts, newsletters, blog posts, and video content all produced by the ‘Littles’ themselves. While most of the content will be featured on the BBSVC webpage, blog, and social media accounts, the recipients of the BBSVC Big Newsletter will be the first to receive the very exclusive content.
In addition to the Littles taking over, BBSVC will also be hosting contest giveaways with exclusive prizes to encourage the community to spread the word about the need for mentors in Ventura County or to sign up themselves.
Community members can visit www.bbsvc.org/January and follow BBSVC on facebook.com/bbsvc for National Mentoring Month updates, coverage, and contests.
Also taking place will be Big’s Night Out on January 19th. ‘Bigs’ are invited to join BBSVC to celebrate the BIG impact they make, as well as invite others who might be interested in becoming mentors themselves. RSVP’s can be secured by contacting BBSVC at 805-484-2282. Following this event, BBSVC will be hosting a BIG Orientation in the West Wing of the Ventura County Community Foundation in Camarillo on January 28th for those who decide they are interested in getting involved as a ‘Big”.
