VENTURA COUNTY — Watching Vince Ferragamo and Dan Burrell joke with one another like longtime friends at the Jersey Mike’s Subs in Westlake Village, you would never expect that the two gentlemen had only met a few hours earlier that same day. But Ferragamo, former Los Angeles Rams Quarterback, and Burrell, Area Director of Jersey Mike’s Subs, quickly bonded over their enthusiasm for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County (BBSVC) and the organization’s upcoming Golf Classic.

Dan Burrell and Jersey Mike’s Subs are new friends of BBSVC, and are this year’s new Title Sponsor of the nonprofit’s Golf Classic – their biggest annual fundraiser that provides much-needed funds to support youth mentoring programs.

“The reason we’re here is Big Brothers Big Sisters. 1,500 kids in Ventura County are part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program,” Burrell said. “Can you think of a more worthy cause than mentoring the youth of today?”

A longtime supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies, Vince Ferragamo is thrilled to be working with BBSVC as the Golf Classic 2017 Celebrity Host. “I really believe in the cause. It helps so many kids, and that’s the reason why we all get involved: to give back, to appreciate one another, and really have camaraderie – [mentoring] is just like playing football.”

Jersey Mike’s Subs presents the BBSVC Golf Classic 2017; the tournament will be held on Monday, May 8. The Golf Classic is returning to Saticoy Country Club in Somis for a day of golf, dinner, giveaways, entertainment, and auctions featuring a new array of exciting items. With the critical support of its sponsors (complete list at bbsvc.org/golf), the BBSVC Golf Classic raises the much-needed funds to help to change the trajectory of youth facing adversity in Ventura County through long-term mentoring. Golfers interested in registering to participate in the Texas Scramble sixsome format are encouraged to register quickly, as registration is expected to sell out ahead of the tournament date. Sponsorships are also still available, but will be limited when golf registration sells out.

“BBSVC’s one-to-one mentoring programs and our school site programs throughout the county are all due to the generous support of our sponsors, friends, and local community,” says BBSVC CEO Lynne West. “We’re so excited to celebrate this positive impact they make by building a more exciting event every year for all to enjoy.”
