RISE Up & Rock for a good cause on April 27!
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — In commemoration of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, RISE will be hosting an exciting, new event called RISE Up & Rock: A Benefit Concert Supporting Survivors. Featuring music from local bands such as The Bogeys, Hot Tina, Brass Mash and SLO Grrrl Music Collective, this event is an opportunity for community members to enjoy a fun afternoon of music and fun in celebration of RISE during this important month.
RISE Up & Rock will take place on Saturday, April 27 at the SLO Brew Rock Event Center in San Luis Obispo. The event will run from 2 – 7 PM, with musical performances, activities, awards and more showcased throughout the afternoon. As well as music, there will be a kids zone with activities including face painting, balloons, lawn games, button-making, and more! Community members will also have the chance to participate in raffle and silent auction prizes, snap a picture in the photo booth, and purchase food and drinks from SLO Brew.
Local celebrities have been fundraising for RISE throughout the month of April and the top fundraiser will be awarded on-stage during the event as Celebrity Rocker of the Year. Participants include City Council members, local business owners, radio personalities, and more! So far these Celebrity Rockers have raised over $3,000.
“We are thrilled to bring together the community at this new event,” said RISE Executive Director Jennifer Adams. “RISE Up & Rock will have entertainment for people of all ages and is a fun, light-hearted way to support survivors and the difficult journey they travel.”
Pre-sale tickets are $25 for general admission, $15 for students, and free for children 12 and under. Tickets will be sold at the door for an increased price of $30 for general admission and $20 for students. To purchase tickets or support a Celebrity Rocker, visit RISEslo.org
