A custom van with a special van wrap mural will be donated by Barber Ford in Ventura to the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard for transportation of the youth to boxing tournaments, Joe Chavez, Barber’s finance manager reported this week.
A special unveiling will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday Feb. 3 at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy, 1601 Pacific Ave., No. 201 in Oxnard.
When management of the car dealership heard of the work Garcia has done for the youth in the community and his effort to keep the youth off the street, they decided to help with transportation by supplying the van, Chavez reported. Barber Ford has always been involved in their community and this is just another example of its dedication.
Chavez and Gil Alcala, general manager, will be on hand to turn over the keys to former world champ and owner of the gym Robert Garcia and the youth. The public is invited.
