WEDNESDAY: Dr. Allie Melendez’s “Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll”

The District House is a benefit of District216. Come by for a portion or all of the evening, meet amazing members + guests, and interact with speakers on a variety of topics.

(Please only park across the street on the Office Max side of the lot.)

SPEAKER BIOS

Speaker: Dr. Allie Melendez
Comprehensive Sexuality & Substance Educator/Intimacy Coordinator

Dr. Allie Melendez (she/her) specializes in teaching comprehensive sexuality education using harm reduction strategies for K-12 students, their educators, and their caregivers in Los Angeles. Dr. Allie’s doctoral dissertation “From ABC to STD” explores human sexuality from in-utero development to age 18 to give educators and caregivers an understanding of why comprehensive sexuality education is both essential and developmentally appropriate at every age.

RECAP: Sonic Transformation – Hypnosonic Frequency Transmission with Torkom Ji

Our parking lot was transformed into a serene oasis under the open sky as dozens of our members and guests gathered for an unforgettable and transformative experience. The evening was centered around the Hypnosonic Frequency Transmission, led by the incredible Torkom Ji of Quantum Harmonix.

As the sun set, we welcomed our community into a cozy setup of chairs, mats, and pillows thoughtfully arranged to create a comfortable and inviting space. With the sounds of Torkom’s 432 Hz tuned frequencies, drones, and harmonics, attendees were gently guided into a deep state of relaxation and expanded consciousness…

…Once the Hypnosonic Frequency Transmission began, Torkom Ji masterfully wove together layers of live sound, creating a powerful and restorative soundscape that resonated deeply with everyone present. The vibrations carried us through a multi-dimensional journey, where healing and creativity intertwined effortlessly. It was more than just a meditation; it was a profound exploration of consciousness.

NEXT WED., SEPT 4 – Kathryn LaRoe-Higgs & Lisa McJunkin “Psychedelics & Harm Reduction in Trauma Populations”

Kathryn LaRoe, (Katie) is a licensed therapist, graduating from USC with her Masters in Social Work with a focus on military and mental health. She previously held the position as Lead Therapist for The Mission Within, and now is now the Therapeutic Lead of Illuminating Warriors (previously Heroic Path To Light).

Lisa McJunkin received her Master of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University. She has been a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and practicing across California since 2011. She trained with Healing Beyond Borders in Healing Touch and Emotional Freedom Techniques with the EFT Tapping Training Institute. Lisa has vast experience with working with adults, special operators, veterans, first responders, health care professionals, adult students, active-duty personnel, parents, partnerships and chronic pain populations.
