PORT HUENEME — The City of Port Hueneme in partnership with the nonprofit REACH is hosting the Hueneme Beach Festival, Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The admission is free.
The festival features live music on two stages, fair-style carnival rides and games, local vendor booths, arts and crafts, and a variety of food and drink. Carnival rides will feature kiddie, family and teen/adult options.
Live entertainment on the Main Stage includes guitarist and singer Taylor Sackson; Fleetwood Mac cover band Twisted Gypsy; classic and fresh New Orleans sounds from New Orleans Suspects; post-third wave ska band Beebs and Her Money Makers, two-time Grammy award winner The Phantom Blues Band and soul and funk The Nth Power. The Toni Young Community Stage will feature a wide variety of performances by local bands from throughout Ventura County.
Festival-goers can watch professional and aspiring chalk artists as they create colorful, vibrant designs of everything from historic Hueneme landmarks to ocean creatures. Young artists are also encouraged to try their hand at chalk art creations at the Kids Chalk Zone. Always a festival favorite, the Sand Sculpture Exhibition, located at the water’s edge, will feature amateur teams as they create sand masterpieces.
Proceeds from the festival will go toward helping REACH continue to provide financial support to recreational, cultural and educational activities in Port Hueneme.
“The Hueneme Beach Festival has established itself as one of the best, family-fun beach festivals in the region,” says Festival Director Maya Zumaya. “It’s a great way to spend one of the last weekends of summer with family and friends.”
The Hueneme Beach Festival takes place at Hueneme Beach Park (E. Surfside Dr. in Port Hueneme). Parking is $10. For more information about the festival, activities and the live band line-up, visit huenemebeachfestival.org
