Aug. 25 — Master the written word! Discover what it takes to get your fiction published and study short stories

SANTA BARBARA — Intriguing characters, a good story line and a compelling narrative voice are among the characteristics of effective, publishable fiction. With more than 30 years of experience at the executive editor level for a variety of publishers, SBCC School of Extended Learning Teacher Shelly Lowenkopf will go over these necessary elements and more in the tuition-free class Getting Fiction Published: For Older Adults.

This is just one of many classes beginning soon at the SBCC School of Extended Learning that’s sure to please readers and writers. Modern and Classic Short Stories will give older adults the opportunity to pursue a close reading of texts paying sustained attention to the characters, plot, style, images, metaphors, patterns, and themes that carry the story forward.
