Dining and entertainment hub marks two decades as a cultural catalyst
OXNARD — Oxnard community will gather in the heart of Downtown to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Centennial Plaza & Plaza 14 Cinemas. A “Blockbuster Party” will honor the Plaza’s leading role as the City’s first dedicated dining and entertainment center within the uplifting story of downtown renewal.
Festivities will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature Hollywood-themed live entertainment, photo-ops, family-friendly activities, giveaways, a local makers market, and food and drink specials from Plaza restaurants.
When it opened in 2005, Centennial Plaza transformed a once-underutilized block into a vibrant hub for dining, entertainment, and community gathering. Plaza 14 Cinemas, the centerpiece of the development, is a third-generation, family-owned business. Besides featuring major studio releases, the theater has also screened local independent film festivals, a summer kids series, and the Oxnard Film Society’s long-running foreign film series.
“Centennial Plaza is a testament to the vision and collaboration of civic leaders, business owners, and residents who believed in the potential of Downtown Oxnard,” said Abel Magana, Executive Director of the Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association. “This anniversary is both a celebration of the past and a look forward to the next chapter in our downtown’s cultural renaissance.”
The celebration is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring friends and family to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and community pride in one of Oxnard’s most iconic spaces.
