Friday nights under the stars! Arts & Lectures’ FREE summer film series continues for 2024 with Sun, Surf and Cinema, seven nights of beach-inspired movies

    • Attendees can start setting up at noon (12 PM) on the day of the screening.
    • Please respect the lawn and your fellow filmgoers: only bring blankets that are permeable (no plastic/nylon/tarps) and chairs that are low-backed and low to the ground

SANTA BARBARA — Get ready to make waves this summer with UCSB Arts & Lectures’ 2024 FREE summer films line-up: Sun, Surf and Cinema. The program continues with the smash hit ABBA musical Mamma Mia! at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Garden on Friday, August 16 at 8:30 pm. Enjoy pre-screening festivities with KLITE’s Catherine Remak, enter to win raffle prizes, and more. Costumes are encouraged.

ABOUT MAMMA MIA!

Donna, an independent hotelier in the Greek islands, is preparing for her daughter’s wedding with the help of two old friends. Meanwhile Sophie, the spirited bride, has a plan. She secretly invites three men from her mother’s past in hope of meeting her real father and having him escort her down the aisle on her big day. Academy Award-winner Meryl Streep leads a star-studded cast – including Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Julie Walters, Christine Baranski and Amanda Seyfried – in this musical celebration of true loves lost and new ones found.
