CENTRAL COAST — On Saturday, April 27, People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH) will be hosting the 2024 Builder Games from 3-7PM at their San Luis Obispo Corporate Office (1060 Kendall Road, San Luis Obispo).
Announced in a new promotional reel on YouTube, the Builder Games is back for its third year, bringing together local teams to construct unique playhouses for children. Returning teams RRM Design Group, Architects FORA, OMNI Design, 1st Capital Bank, and host People’s Self-Help Housing will be joined by two new teams, Blosser Urban Garden and Arris Studio Architects. Only one slot remains for anyone looking to take on these seasoned champions. The event promises much more than just competition, as guests can enjoy Santa Maria Style BBQ, a curated selection of local wine and craft beer, and great music from DJ Manuel Medina. All proceeds raised will be reinvested in the Central Coast, benefiting the education and supportive housing programs of PSHH.
“We have loved watching this event grow and see these teams get increasingly more creative in their designs year after year,” said Ken Trigueiro, PSHH CEO & President. “We look forward to bringing the community together again for a fun day in the sun in support of our essential resident services.”
Camino Scholars, the education program of PSHH and one of the beneficiaries of The Builder Games, currently serves over 400 students per year at its onsite Learning Centers. Through in-person programming and its counterpart distance learning model, Camino Scholars provides students and their families with free, year-round academic assistance. The curriculum has been shown to significantly improve math and literacy skills and sets students on the path to lifelong learning.
To further meet the needs of residents, PSHH’s Supportive Housing Program combines compassionate property management with service-enriched housing. The program currently offers free, confidential, clinical case management and onsite care to over 5,000 residents in three counties. To meet additional demand, PSHH partners with over 70 area agencies, which connects community members to local resources and area wellness programs. These partnerships include health screenings, counseling, mental health support, food distribution, rental assistance, wellness seminars, and more.
This event is graciously sponsored by Gallagher, Mission Bank, Morris & Garritano, Enterprise Community Partners, and Zepeda 805 Impalas.
