Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival Returns April 25–26, 2026

Alameda Park, Santa Barbara, CA

Join us for the 56th Earth Day celebration — a jam-packed weekend of music, green cuisine, family-friendly activities, eco-friendly vendors, and community connections.

The Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival returns to Alameda Park for its 56th year, bringing the Central Coast community together for one of the longest-running Earth Day celebrations in the country and one of the largest on the West Coast. Presented by the Community Environmental Council (CEC) and CarpEvents, this free, grassroots festival is a joyful gathering grounded in environmental advocacy, education, and local action.

This year’s festival aligns with EARTHDAY.ORG’s 2026 global theme, Our Power, Our Planet, recognizing Earth Day as a moment that unites a global community committed to protecting the health of our environment, our communities, and our economy. At a time when environmental protections face growing challenges, Earth Day calls on people of all backgrounds to stand together in support of clean air, clean water, renewable energy, and the protection of all life on our planet.

There’s something for everyone! Across two stages, enjoy live music and inspiring speakers and browse over 200 eco-friendly exhibitors — from ethically-made apparel to zero-waste home goods. Savor local, sustainably sourced bites and beverages at the Plant-Forward Food Court and Beer & Wine Garden. Explore the latest electric vehicles and discover state and local incentives that can make your next EV more affordable, or bring the little ones to the Kids Corner for hours of learning and play.

The Santa Barbara Earth Day Legacy

In 1969, a massive oil spill off Santa Barbara’s coastline devastated wildlife and sparked a wave of environmental action across California. Inspired by this catastrophe, a group of local activists founded the Community Environmental Council (CEC) and organized Santa Barbara’s first Earth Day celebration in 1970, planting the seeds for decades of grassroots environmental advocacy.

Become a Resilience Hub and Help Your Community Prepare for Disasters

The California Central Coast faces growing challenges from extreme heat, wildfire smoke, flooding, and poor air quality. Community resilience hubs — trusted local spaces like schools, libraries, community centers, and churches — can provide aid and resources before, during, and after these events. CEC can help activate your site to:

  1. Provide clean air during smoke events

  2. Act as cooling locations during extreme heat

  3. Distribute food

  4. Serve as an emergency shelter or hub for emergency services

  5. Facilitate disaster preparedness training and neighborhood organizing

  6. Host off-grid charging during power outages or shutdowns
