April 16 — Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara to Host Virtual Fundraiser – StrongHER Together: Finding Strength through Sport

SANTA BARBARA — Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara proudly invites the Santa Barbara community to its annual fundraiser, StrongHER Together: Finding Strength through Sport, streaming live on Friday, April 16th, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Registration for this family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

StrongHER Together will celebrate the unique power sports possess to help girls and teens discover their strengths and recognize their potential to be leaders of tomorrow. A recent global study of senior female business executives found that 94% of women C-suite executives played sports at one point in their lives.

Dr. Sara Tanza and Melissa McConville, co-directors of the She.Is.Beautiful 5k and 10k race, will share their stories about how running has inspired them to build an uplifting community for all women to become their best selves. She.Is.Beautiful is the largest community race held in Santa Barbara each year.

“We are excited to have such strong and inspiring role models like Sara and Melissa share how sports has guided their respective leadership journeys,” said Tom Blabey, Interim Executive Director and COO of Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara. “Girls Inc. has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with She.Is.Beautiful and each year we see girls build their confidence and strength as they train past their fears and limitations to run the race.”

StrongHER Together will also feature powerful stories from Girls Inc. gymnasts and after-school program participants. Girls Inc. annually provides over 215,000 hours of pro-girl programming for more than 1,300 girls and teens throughout the Santa Barbara community. Proceeds from StrongHER Together will directly support Girls Inc.’s mission and the hands-on, minds-on enrichment programs that help girls grow up strong, smart, and bold.
